Interrogative Food Analysis

Every product has a story

Interrogative Food Analysis (IFA) is the application of cross-disciplinary scientific knowledge and techniques to the investigation of food-borne contamination or adulteration.  Every sample examination we perform begins with microscopy, the foundation of IFA.  To the trained and experienced eye, this gives us information about what a material is made of, where it came from, and what processes it may have been subjected to.  In addition to traditional brightfield and stereo microscopy, we employ cutting-edge physical and chemical methods:

  • FT-IR spectroscopy
  • Raman spectroscopy
  • Fluorescence microscopy
  • Polarized microscopy

  • DIC/Dark Field/Phase Contrast/Nomarsky microscopy
  • Micro-chemical/micro-crystalline/spot testing
  • X-ray imaging
  • UV-VIS imaging and spectroscopy
  • HD video microscopy
  • qPCR
